We conducted a survey to understand the reasons why people do not seek medical attention. We asked participants to rate their level of agreement with three specific reasons why they did not seek medical care. We also collected data from other sources regarding other reasons people do not seek medical care. The data from these surveys are reported elsewhere. This study provides further insight into why some people do not seek medical care. In addition to these reasons, participants cited a variety of personal characteristics and beliefs as the main cause for not seeking medical attention.
Among the many reasons for not seeking medical attention, stress and certain mental health disorders are major contributors. It is critical to identify underlying causes and take appropriate action to address them. If you do not find any reason for the lack of interest, contact your healthcare provider and ask for a diagnosis. These professionals can help you determine what is causing the lack of interest in medical treatment and how to change your behavior.
